Nordisk Forum
for Co-financing of Documentaries
Bergen, Norway, 27-28 September 2010

Filmkontakt Nord has organised Nordisk Forum for Co-financing of Documentaries in conjunction with Nordisk Panorama - 5 Cities Film Festival since 1994.
Over the years,
Nordisk Forum has developed into the main funding event for professionals involved in the Nordic documentary community. It is the annual meeting place for documentary producers, commissioning editors from tv, film institutes and regional film funds, as well as international distributors. Furthermore, observers and film school students attend Nordisk Forum for an intensive educational experience.
During the two days of the forum, a selection of 22
new documentary projects will be pitched to the 30-40 attending
financiers. Afternoons are set aside for individual meetings. Based on previous years, more than 70% of the projects are expected to secure additional financing as a result.
In addition to the selected projects, Nordisk Forum introduces the Nordic Wild Cards to boost the element of innovation and surprise. One project from each of the five Nordic countries has been brought to our attention by the documentary consultants at the Nordic film institutes because of their novel qualities. The filmmakers and their projects will be announced on the spot.
This year, Nordisk Forum already kicks off on Sunday 26 September with the brand new networking event Producers Meet Producers. As another new initiative, Nordisk Forum welcomes a UK delegation to connect with the Nordic documentary community.
Nordisk Forum is open to professionals that have applied for and been granted a seat. Some 180 professionals will attend the event, and we are looking forward to two intensive days, discussing the selected projects.
Nordisk Forum 2010 will follow the concept summarized below:
Pitching Sessions
Each morning, 14 projects are pitched to the attending financiers, allowing 7 minutes for each pitch followed by a short Q & A.
Nordic Wild Cards + Moderator's Hat
Five pitching
slots are reserved for brand new documentary projects in early development announced on the spot. One pitching slot is reserved for a draw among the observers to get the chance to pitch a project.
Individual Meetings
After lunch, individual meetings between producers and financiers will take place. All meetings are pre-booked through Nordisk Forum Online and priority is given to pitch teams.
Moderators' Meetings
In preparation of the pitching sessions, Filmkontakt Nord offers pitch teams to book advance meetings with one of the moderators.
Programme & Participants
Lists will be published two weeks before the event.
Nordisk Forum Online
Nordisk Forum participants are offered to present a
short clip or trailer of a project, together with a short synopsis and other
project information, giving attending decision-makers the opportunity to preview the Nordisk Forum projects online
and see short trailer excerpts. In addition, decision-maker profiles and
online meeting booking will be available on Nordisk Forum Online. The site opens late August and is restricted to producers selected to pitch, observers and attending decision-makers.
