An initiative by Filmkontakt Nord and Hot Docs in cooperation with Shareplay, docXchange is a two-step programme aimed at fostering professional development, offering potential financing opportunities, and creating long-term cooperation in the field of interactive documentary production for North American and European producers.
The first part took place in May with a three-day seminar and workshop at Hot Docs in Toronto, Canada. Nordisk Panorama is now hosting the second part, a financing forum, learning experience and networking event for producers and decision-makers from different areas of new media production.
From the 20 projects, which participated in the first part of docXchange, 12 projects have been selected to pitch and receive feedback from decision-makers and experts in an open forum.
We have invited a number of traditional and non-traditional financiers as well as various experts to share their knowledge and help the projects move forward. Among others, Alexander Knetig (ARTE France, Internet Department), Nicolette Nol (VPRO Digitaal), Simon Kilmurry (POV), Sabine Bubeck-Paaz (ZDF/ARTE), Barbara Biemann (ARD/NDR), Nordic broadcasters: NRK (Norway), SVT (Sweden), YLE (Finland), DR (Denmark), RUV (Iceland), Brett Gaylor (Mozilla Foundation), Wendy Levy (BAVC), Jamie King (Vodo), Christian Falkenberg Husum (IP/New Media Lawyer), and more...
The sessions will be moderated by Asta Wellejus, crossmedia producer/developer and CEO of Die Asta Experience, Denmark, and Elizabeth Radshaw, Hot Docs Forum and Market Director, Canada.
During the afternoon, the forum features individual meetings, a number of seminars providing insight into new media trends and business models, and a Networking Saloon offering opportunities to chase future crossmedia partners.

14:30-15:30: The New Documentary Movement
The paradigm is shifting for documentary producers working in the new media landscape. How do international artists deal with urgent demands for creative transparency, transmedia assets, civic engagement, revenue models, platform independence, impact data, and a complete re-envisioning of the audience? It can be overwhelming when it should be inspiring. This presentation from Wendy Levy, the founding Director of the Producers Institute for New Media Technologies, highlights projects and platforms that are pushing the limits of global public media with technology-inspired tools for collaboration, alternative storytelling and social change.
Speaker: Wendy Levy, Director of the Producers Institute for New Media Technologies and Senior Strategist at Tomorrow Partners.
15:50-16:50: Connected World, Connected Content
Mobile media is becoming more about connected audiences in mobile situations than about specific mobile devices. Jason DaPonte will look at trends and make predictions about how mobile media is evolving beyond the handset and talk about how factual content makers can harness this and be successful in the emerging digital ecosystem.
Speaker: Jason DaPonte, Managing Director of THE SWARM
17:00-18:00: Business Model Safari
With converging platforms and shifts in user behaviour and distribution patterns, new business models arise while old ones fade at an ever-faster pace. This calls for a constant search for new areas to generate business. Hosted by Shareplay, this seminar will focus on the specific process of finding and cultivating new business models within media production. Featuring real world cases as well as structured approaches for identifying new business models in different areas of (trans) media production, the safari is set to spot the new biz out there. Join Shareplay for the ride!
Speakers: Mette Freisner Johansen, CEO, Adviser in innovation and process at NewClearAct, and Christian Fonnesbech, Trans Media Producer & Director at Windeløv/Lassen Interactive
